1. History


Once upon a time, the place where Tokyo stands today was a small fishing village.

In the 17th century, Tokugawa Ieyasu prevailed in the struggle for national supremacy.

1603, he established Shogunate at Edo

1853, Matthew Calbraith Perry ,who was a Commander-in-Chief of the United States East India Squadron came to Japan to open it. Next year, Japan opened.

1868、To avoid the destruction of Edo, the shogunate surrendered Edo Castle to the new government forces backed by the Imperial Court.

1868, New government renamed Edo to Tokyo Prefecture.
